Welcome to My Blog!

After much deliberation and encouragement from colleagues and peers, I am excited to launch this platform to share my journey and insights. To begin, a little about myself: I am a cybersecurity researcher, scholar, and government Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), privileged to work in what I genuinely believe to be the most impactful profession in the world.

With over 24 years of experience in cybersecurity, and over 34 years in the government domain, I have witnessed the evolution of the field firsthand—a journey filled with challenges, lessons, and countless opportunities for growth.

As we embark on this intellectual journey together, I hope to foster a dialogue grounded in shared experiences, learning, and practical application. The value of this blog will unfold through your engagement as readers, as we collectively explore topics rooted in my professional and academic pursuits.

Cybersecurity, particularly from the perspective of a "blue teamer," is often described as a collaborative effort. However, despite the growing recognition of its importance, cyber incidents continue to escalate and disrupt lives. My motivation for launching this blog is clear: to democratize access to cybersecurity knowledge and empower those who lack the resources to employ dedicated professionals. Specifically, I aim to focus on small and medium-sized organizations, equipping them with actionable strategies to mitigate cyber risks effectively.

This blog will emphasize clarity and pragmatism, offering a "no-nonsense" approach to cybersecurity without resorting to Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt (FUD). My goal is to create a space where insights are shared transparently, with a focus on empowering readers rather than instilling unnecessary anxiety.
